On The Friday Random Ten IV
I'm probably the only sad bastard doing his Friday Random Ten on Saturdays.

Da Rules: "So! You know what day it is! Time to put your digital music player on shuffle, click play, and list the first ten songs that show up. You must resist the temptation to click past the bad or embarrassing songs."

  1. "Carversville" by Lincoln
  2. "Did We Not Choose Each Other" by Sophie B. Hawkins
  3. "Where I Belong" by Reigndance
  4. "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me" by U2
  5. "Mr. Me" by They Might Be Giants
  6. "Don't Fear the Reaper" by Gus
  7. "Chile" by Toad the Wet Sprocket
  8. "The Prize" by Semisonic
  9. "P.S. You Rock My World" by Eels
  10. "Siren Dress" by Spin Doctors

Majorly Enjoyed: I'm the biggest poser in the world for pretending to like "good music" and then being forced to declare my love of "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me" from the second two-disc greatest hits package. Any respectable musician who riffs on Johnny Mathis should be shot for their crimes, right? "They want you to be Jesus. They'll go down on one knee. But they'll all want their money back if you're alive at thirty-three." I just can't hold back my admiration.

Minorly Enjoyed: "Don't Fear the Reaper" by Gus from Scream [Soundtrack]. Ugh. I don't care who does it; this song leaves me cold.

Others: Sherri, Mark, Philly, Howard, Brian, Marissa (still queen of FR10 links)

In closing, Reigndance is Andre's band featured in the first The Real World, interesting, no?

Located: next to the amp
Feeling: rushed
Listening: "Nova Cain" by Damn the Diva

i love that eels song! i haven't gotten much into the newer stuff...but the first three albums kill me (the second is especially sad).

I'm a bigger fan of E's solo work than the stuff with the band. I find about 35% on each new album that I really enjoy and then a whole pile of experimental music that I'm not thrilled with.

We agree on the second album in a major way.

Dude, no love for The Reaper? Granted, Blue Oyster Cult weren't classic rock greats like Journey and Foriegner, but that song is the shit (especially the bridge - did Gus fuck up the bridge?).

The bridge is a little fucked up but more than that, the song just drags for me. It's like Nilsson's "Coconut" but without the fun.

Dude, you know you loved that U2 song when it was on the Batman Forever soundtrack, long before the two-disc greatest hits package.

I don't deny it. I bought the Batman Forever soundtrack almost exclusively for that song. (I'd just rather steer people toward a better musical package if they feel like investigating.)
