On The Friday Random Ten X
And now for another edition of the Friday Random Ten, whipped up while I was writing my last post in my underwear. Or rather, while still dressed in my underwear. I don't want you guys to think I write drafts of my posts on my Hanes in Sharpie or nothing.

Da Rules: "So! You know what day it is! Time to put your digital music player on shuffle, click play, and list the first ten songs that show up. You must resist the temptation to click past the bad or embarrassing songs."

  1. "Everything I'm Not" by Fields of Mars - The first Josh Dawson project I ever saw. Then came Lightheavyweight. Now he's fronting Slender Means who you might have caught at the Sasquatch Festival. All his projects are worth tracking down.
  2. "You've Escaped" by Aloha - A quieter tune from an alternative outfit I picked up for a buck.
  3. "Why Bother?" by Weezer - Fuck yes! My morning needed some uptempo, percussive pop music to shake the sleep out.
  4. "Fashion Zombies" by Aquabats - Silly, Danny Elfman-like vocals over some goofy keyboard pop. The one song of theirs I downloaded during my eMusic subscription.
  5. "Love Delicatessen" by The Presidents of the United States of America - Will I jinx it by declaring today the best Friday Random Ten ever? This is one of my top five PUSA tracks. "I was looking at the pies."
  6. "Grab It" by Dinosaur Junior - I feel like I'm in high school again.
  7. "Green Grass" by Big Audio Dynamite II - Not the best tune off this record but a disc I adore in its entirety.
  8. "Vaseline" by Elastica - One of the things I enjoy about Elastica is how many songs they have that are under 2:30. Don't bore us, get to the chorus!
  9. "Long Way Around" by Chris Whitley - And now for a song off one of my top ten albums of all time. Must... contain... excitement!
  10. "Theme from Mission: Impossible (Mission Accomplished)" by Adam Clayton & Larry Mullen - Yeah, I own this single. What of it? I also love "Elevation", "Golden Eye", and "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me". The boys from U2 can do as many action film soundtracks as they want and I'll embrace them all.

Majorly Enjoyed: All of it! Oh, I'll pick one. Uhm... I'm thinking! Well... "Why Bother?" from Weezer got me extremely pumped about the morning, so I'll give the credit there. Originally, I didn't care for Pinkerton but I've come around in a major way. I still don't like "Tired of Sex" but everything else on the record makes me smile.

Minorly Enjoyed: "Fashion Zombies" by Aquabats gets the nod for this one but only because it's in some stellar company. I'm sure Charge is a lovely album but this is the only song of theirs that I'm familiar with and I haven't heard it enough to really make a connection. It just didn't have a chance in today's mix.

Others: 1, B, III, four, and another.

In closing, now I feel energized for my Friday! I still need to find some pants though.

Located: on a chair
Feeling: excited
Listening: "Eve's Volcano" by Julian Cope (which also rules)

Yeah, it's definitely a different experience when I'm sampling from the entirety of my music collection rather than pulling from a 2GB drive.

I'm jealous of your Nano. I will type it nAno in protest.

Dude! I just got an iPod Nano for my birthday from Hillary and my best friend, Eiji. Score!

You win, though. I'm still organizing my songs on my computer...

All hail the rocking!

It pleases me so much when my music collection churns out awesomeness when on random. Makes me a little proud of my taste, y'know?
