Paring Down
I have way too many CDs. Enough that it's silly. Enough that I don't listen to anywhere near all of them. Some of them, I don't even like but keep on hand because maybe someone else will want to listen to them. It's ridiculous. So, I made myself a promise that, if I could get together over 100 CDs to sell at the used record store, I'd trade them in for credit toward the Beatles remasters box set. I culled 260.

Below is the list. If you'd like any of these before I take them to the used CD store, I'll let you have them for used CD prices. Let's say $2.50 per CD, $10 for 5.

It's funny how many of the same records we're both purging. I'd like the Hoosiers and Harvey Danger. but I can't believe you're ditching Graceland! Horrors!

It's my second copy of Graceland. A fella only needs so many.

I'll keep those other two on hand for you, lady-o.

Wow, that was probably the single largest spike in the chart of "Matthew is a pretty okay guy - WAIT MATTHEW IS AN AWFUL HUMAN BEING - No, I guess he's an okay guy after all" I've ever experienced. Selling off Graceland is only acceptable if one owns multiple copies already.

There's quite a few that make me say "hmmm, that might be interesting." In normal times, that'd be worth the cash, but I'm going through my own CD reduction project and am trying to only spend money on "I need this", not just "could be worth a listen". I'll take a pass, but thanks for the offer.

I'm glad we share the view of people who sell Graceland.

Yeah, I figure it's a time for many people to be cutting down. The only reason I offered it was to preempt any "Wait! You sold that? For two bucks! I would have bought it!"

Don't worry though, I grabbed a few good songs off the to-be-sold for my mix. :D

I should note, however, that Tourism is my personal favorite Roxette album, and if I were in the mood to listen to them, that's definitely the one I would put on. That entitles it to about a biennial playing, though.

Zak and I will buy some of these but will get back to you tonight!

Dude, I'm glad the Graceland issue has been thoroughly covered. I couldn't even come up with the right horrible thing to call you!

If it's still available I'd take Clapton's From The Cradle. Don't tell Steve-o because I'll probably save until May for his birthday.
ironmaus From: ironmaus Date: February 16th, 2010 05:44 am (UTC) (Perm-a-link)
Deal.
From: emshort Date: February 16th, 2010 08:41 am (UTC) (Perm-a-link)
I would like: the Art of Noise, the Mazzy Star, the Moby, and the Luka Bloom. Please don't ask why.
ironmaus From: ironmaus Date: February 16th, 2010 04:40 pm (UTC) (Perm-a-link)
I don't think that people who own something in the first place can be critical about others wanting to own those things as well. :D

Hal featuring Gillian Anderson - Extremis (Single)

wat

I gather that I am too late to get the copy of Graceland.
ironmaus From: ironmaus Date: February 16th, 2010 07:37 pm (UTC) (Perm-a-link)
wat indeed - Careful watching this, you may gag. Gillian makes the most ridiculous face.

As for Graceland, it is indeed already picked off.
karlosthejackal From: karlosthejackal Date: February 18th, 2010 05:07 am (UTC) (Perm-a-link)
If they're still available, I'd like:

Cheap Trick - The Greatest Hits
John Vanderslice - Pixel Revolt
The Posies - Failure

And maybe a couple more after I run the list by my wife.

(Hello! This is Emily's Film is Truth co-owner.)

And maybe a couple more after I run the list by my wife.

Nope, just those three.

Awesome. Shoot me an e-mail at IRONMAUS(at)GMAIL with your address, and I'll send them up. That is, unless you're going to be out and about Seattle anytime soon.
